A full charter of fired up divers enjoyed some great dives with us over the weekend in the Straits of Mackinac.  We checked out the Maitland and the Sandusky on Saturday.  We explored the Young and the massive Cedarville on Sunday. It was 50-60 foot viz on Saturday, a bit less on Sunday, probably more like 30 feet. The temperatures dipped to 50 degrees at depth. Conditions were good for our photographers and videographers on board.  More video will soon make the Rec Diving You Tube channel, but if you can’t wait, stop by Rec Diving – everyone knows we never tire of playing underwater videos.  We are always happy to share our dives!

Watching fireworks from the boat was an added bonus and we celebrated a few July birthdays on the deck of the Straits Diver, our awesome dive boat for the weekend.

Thanks to Captain Larry, Captain Dan and the entire team in St. Ignace.  Congratulations to our first time Great Lakes shipwreck divers – Michelle Kapa, Tim Stewart, Eric Watkins and Jakob Wild!

The Straits of Mackinac Underwater Preserve raises money each year to mark the wrecks we dive by selling t-shirts and calendars.  The 2014 edition highlights some our favorite shipwrecks in the Straits Preserve.  We have them here at Rec Diving, so come check them out and support the Straits of Mackinac Underwater Preserve.
