The check-out dive at German Channel set the stage for the big animal action for the week. Mantas greeted us at a cleaning station and a good sized octopus put on a show. After that the large schools of fish became the norm during the week. Mackerel, barracuda, giant trevally, jacks, unicorn fish, surgeon fish – one school bigger than the next! The reef sharks and white tips came in on cue at the famous dive sight Blue Corner, as well as a manta that seemed to appear out of nowhere. What a special treat that was! We played with the giant napoleon wrasse like they were puppies and got a glimpse at a couple of gorgeous eagle rays. The diversity of the critters was fantastic! Our night dive featured more than a dozen baby octopus and a couple of very cooperative cuttlefish. Add to that the gorgeous combination of hard and colorful soft corals, the spectacular backdrop of the rock islands, and it is easy to see why so many Rec Divers return back to this special place.
