Every year, thousands of turtles come to Raine Island from all over Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, Vanuatu, New Caledonia, and northern Australia. It’s a protected area, inaccessible to the public, but you can dive the surrounding waters. Besides the turtles, divers encounter plenty of pelagics, beautiful bommies, swim throughs teeming with fish, and a particularly diverse array of coral. There’s also the historic Pandora Wreck of Muntiny on the Bounty fame.
If you haven’t been diving in Australia yet, this is the trip you’ve been waiting for. If you have been diving in Australia, this unique trip is worth going back for!
