What makes a great regulator?  The difference between a "good" regulator and a "great" regulator can make or break the enjoyment of any dive experience.  Comfort, reliability, and high performance are the most important attributes that a regulator should exhibit.  Every great regulator should make breathing effortless.  Air should be delivered easily and consistently, on demand, and in the quantities required.  And through technology and design, your regulator must be completely reliable.

Rec Diving's annual trip to Bonaire was a week filled with fun - both topside and underwater. As always, the diving and snorkeling was easy and relaxing. We enjoyed critters galore on the boat each day and on the house reef at Divi Flamingo Beach Resort. Schools of jacks, squid, frog fish, turtles, tarpon, barracuda, sea horses, moray eels and a very friendly octopus were among our favorite sightings. Bonaire's reefs are healthy and teeming with fish. We enjoyed nightly sunset dives and even a few dives at sunrise!

During our Rec Diving trip to the Straits of Mackinac, WXYZ-TV videographer Chris Jones captured his dives on video with an incredibly compact Hero head-mounted camera. It was really cool! Rec Diving trip leader Frank Aloia shared with Chris his knowledge about the history of wrecks, and we were all excited to see some of our favorite dives featured on the local news.

Since their release in February of this year, these little powerhouses have been one of the most talked about items here at Rec Diving. People love the Solas because of their light weight and compact size, but they sometimes shy away from these beauties when they compare them pricewise to the other LED lights. While they might cost a little more at the register, I’m going to tell you how the Solas will save you more than three times their cost in the long run.

PVD or Physical Vapor Deposition, is an environmentally friendly vaporization coating technique which involves the transfer of the coating material at the atomic level to the surface of a metal object. Well the folks from Light and Motion have decided to take the technology they refined developing video lighting into the smallest, lightest and powerful package yet that can cover us no matter what our application. The Sola series lights come in three different models: the Dive, Photo and Video. Within each of these groups the Sola comes in two or three versions offering all of the options you might need for the task they’re optimized for. Sound confusing? Don’t worry we’ll dive into the details.

We just got our first A700 Black Tech regulator and WOW. Inside its the same great regulator but on the outside it has a PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) finish which, when applied on metal surfaces, increases ruggedness, scratch resistance and surface hardness. It also make it look super cool!
